John Rhind General Manager Tony Garing has played the trombone for over 20 years, and performs with the Canterbury Foundation Brass, one of the Canterbury brass bands supported by John Rhind Funeral Directors.Tony is the current Vice-President of the FDANZ, with particular responsibility for funeral director education and training.

  Randal Law

Randal Law

Assistant manager and funeral director Randal Law comes to Rhinds from the floral industry - most recently as an auctioneer in the flower market and prior to that running his own florist's business where he was often involved in preparing floral tributes for the city's funeral firms. As his contact with the funeral industry increased, he was asked to assist at funerals and found it so rewarding that he welcomed the opportunity to become involved full time. Randal and his wife have three adult daughters and in his spare time he enjoys cooking and sea fishing, particularly out of the Akaroa Harbour.

Lance Grey

Lance Grey

Lance Grey has been a funeral director in Canterbury for over 25 years. He plays the organ regularly at many of the services at Sacred Heart Church in Addington, and also at some funeral services held at the Rhind's chapel.

  Phil Kingan

Phil Kingan

Phil has worked for John Rhind Funeral Directors for over 25 years, and grew up in Christchurch. Phil is a member of the Avon Rowing Club, and is active in both rowing and coaching.

Christine Staines

Christine Staines

Christine Staines is John Rhind's North Canterbury funeral director. Christine has lived in the North Canterbury area all of her life, bringing up her children in Kaiapoi. She has a number of years experience as a funeral director and has been involved with several community fundraising ventures in North Canterbury.

  Zane Zweibruck

Zane Zweibruck

Zane is a registered Funeral Director and has worked for John Rhinds for over 20 years having seen many changes in the profession over this time. Zane started his working life as a tradesman gaining registration as a Craftsman in his chosen trade. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and getting out in the garden. He also enjoys cycling and endeavours to cycle to his work most days, weather permitting.

Lynne Barron

Lynne Barron

Lynne Barron is our Bereavement Support person. Lynne has worked with John Rhind Funeral Directors for over five years and has a background in teaching. She has qualifications in counselling and grief support.

Keith Norton

When Keith Norton is not at John Rhind's working as a funeral director, he works as a professional fire-fighter, which he has done for 30 years.

John Rhind

John Rhind

John Rhind, grandson of the original John Rhind of John Rhind Funeral Directors, has been a funeral director for forty years and continues to be involved with management and with funerals. A life member of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand, John Rhind started at Rhinds when he was still at school, helping his father clean cars and doing odd jobs after school and at weekends. In November 1958, John Rhind took over the management of the firm from his father and continued to run the business until handing over to his son Graeme Rhind, who ran the business for several years until being appointed chief operating officer for Bledisloe New Zealand.

  Yvonne Talyancich

Yvonne Talyancich

Yvonne has been working in the funeral industry for seven years, initially as an embalmer and more recently as a funeral director. Prior to that, she was at home with her two children and in the past has owned her own hairdressing business and a café. Yvonne is keen on waterskiing and multisport and has competed in the Coast to Coast.

Kevin Bey

Kevin Bey

A qualified funeral director, Kevin has been in the funeral Industry for 17 years. He and his wife Karyn have 10 children and when he is not at Rhinds, he is kept busy with family life and church activities.

David Rossiter

Funeral director David Rossiter has worked for John Rhind for over 30 years. In his leisure time he enjoys spending time with his young grandchildren, playing and reading books.

Greg Rawlinson

Greg Rawlinson

Assistant funeral director Greg Rawlinson has been involved in the funeral industry since 2005. In his leisure time he enjoys gardening and is an aviation enthusiast.

Hugh Douglas-Withers

Assistant funeral director came to New Zealand from South Oxfordshire, in the UK, in 2001. He started his career as a signwriter but initially worked in New Zealand as a boat painter.

Ian Martyn

Ian Martyn

Funeral Director Ian Martyn is a fourth generation Cantabrian, who has joined Rhinds after a 37 year military career in both New Zealand and Australia. Ian is an active member of the RNZ Returned & Services Association, the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem and is a Justice of the Peace. Ian has an adult family and spends his leisure time keeping fit, travelling, researching family history and driving his 1930 Essex vintage car.

  Malcolm Burgess

Malcolm Burgess

Mortuary manager Malcolm Burgess has been in the funeral industry since 1989, when he started working at the Harewood Crematorium moving up to the position of operations manager. He joined Rhinds in 2003 as a trainee embalmer and funeral assistant, completing his National Embalming Certificate in 2005. Malcolm comes from an engineering background, with experience in the rubber, boat building and foundry industries. In his spare time he is involved in music, sailing, surfing, snowboarding and family life.

Andrew Martin

Andrew Martin

Andrew Martin joined Rhinds as an experienced embalmer when he came to Christchurch in August 2009. Andrew was born and raised in Wellington and has spent most of his working life in the food industry as a baker and managing bakeries. Andrew and his young family are enjoying exploring our beautiful city.

Tania Dingwall

Tania Dingwall joined the team at Rhinds as a funeral assistant in April 2008. Since then Tania has up-skilled to an embalming position and feels it is a privilege to assist and care for families loved ones in their time of need.

Michelle Taylor

Michelle Taylor

Before coming to Rhinds, Michelle Taylor worked with Victim Support and their Bereavement sector. She spends a lot of time volunteering with Children's International Summer Villages (CISV), an international United Nations-linked charity that promotes cross-cultural understanding in children. From attending camps in other countries when she was a child, Michelle has gone on to organise camps herself and has been a camp director hosting 44 11-year-olds from around the world. Michelle is CISV's New Zealand Trustee. In her remaining spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and travelling overseas.
